What is heyprof?
heyprof is an AI-powered platform for teaching and learning, from primary school to university. Complete with courses, slides, VisuApps, AI tutor, digital whiteboard, live quiz, exercises, social studying, learning assessment, exams, CourseLab and VisuLab. And still easy to use.
I developed heyprof together with Prof. Dr. Volker Reichenberger. It started with a frustration: the most beautiful ideas in mathematics often disappear behind formulas, slides and PDF folders in class. After our platform Hart und Trocken, heyprof is the next step, and the idea has grown: every subject has those moments when something suddenly makes sense. heyprof wants to make them happen more often. The platform is operated by Studio Quant GmbH.

At the heart: VisuApps
VisuApps are interactive visualisations for learning, in the browser and without sign-up. More than 700 of them have been created on heyprof, across all subjects and levels. Alongside them are CogniApps, in which AI itself is the engine: for example a piano studio that composes pieces and listens while you play.
Every VisuApp works in two ways:
- Without explain mode: Discover it yourself. Move sliders, turn the camera, find connections, at your own pace.
- With explain mode: Learners ask a question, and the AI tutor demonstrates the answer inside the app: it operates it, points at what matters and explains along the way. The language model answers not just with text but with stage directions for the app, staged ad hoc for exactly this question.

With explain mode: the AI tutor demonstrates
At the push of a button, the AI tutor takes over the VisuApp: it sets the sliders, pans the camera, points at what it is talking about with speech bubbles, and adjusts pace and depth. The demonstration can be interrupted at any time, and you carry on yourself. Try it yourself: in the Chord Builder, click “Try the explain mode” in the top right corner.

At Raumwelten 2026 at HFT Stuttgart, I showed how a demonstration becomes a walkable space: in the pavilion Knowledge as Space, where VisuApps run inside the walls and the companion Nova guides visitors through the exhibits.
The AI Tutor
The tutor does not answer from a language model’s general world knowledge but from the course: from the instructor’s slides, script and lecture recording, from the current assignment including its model solution, and from the student’s work so far. Instead of handing out ready-made solutions, it guides students through the assignment in Socratic dialogue and asks exactly the question that moves them one step forward. Endlessly patient, for five-year-olds or for nerds.
